The T-34 was a Soviet medium tank that first entered service in 1940. Early T-34/76 models combined sloped armor, strong mobility, and a 76.2mm main gun, creating a capable balance of protection, firepower, and battlefield performance. Its appearance during the German invasion of the Soviet Union in 1941 came as a major surprise to German forces.
